The Brand Guideline That Actually Works

Not logo spacing. Not colour codes. The rules that keep your brand from contradicting itself.

Tone flexes. Everything else holds. Archetype, persona, voice, language. Decided once. Held everywhere.

What this is

Your Instagram speaks one way. Your signboard another. Your WhatsApp replies a third. Your staff a fourth. The customer meets all of them at once. This masterclass builds the guideline that tells everyone which layer is fixed, which layer flexes, and where each one applies. The part agencies charge RM5k to RM30k for.

What you will be able to do

Modules

  1. Your logo has rules. Your WhatsApp replies do not.. Why most guidelines obsess over logo spacing and colour codes while ignoring how the brand speaks and behaves. You see why the real contradictions live in the parts nobody ever wrote down.
  2. Five layers. Four fixed. One flexes.. Archetype, persona, voice, tone and language: what each layer is for, which ones hold everywhere, and why tone is the only layer allowed to change with the situation.
  3. When the menu and the feed disagree. A case breakdown of how a single comment about a mismatch turns into a national conversation. You learn the pattern so you can spot it inside your own business before your customers do.
  4. Your brand has four personalities. Customers meet all of them.. Audit every touchpoint: signboard, feed, packaging, WhatsApp, staff, invoices. You map where each layer contradicts the others and rank every contradiction by how much damage it can do.
  5. The crisis you will have next year is already in your guideline. How unwritten rules create the gaps that complaints exploit, and how complaint becomes crisis becomes reputation. You leave Session 1 knowing which missing rules are most likely to hurt you first.
  6. Decide the fixed layers once. Never argue about them again.. Write your archetype, persona, voice and language rules in plain words. We do it live, so the decisions are yours, defensible, and short enough for anyone on the team to remember.
  7. The tone map: how far the brand bends before it breaks. Build a tone map for real situations: launches, complaints, condolences, promos, delays. Each one with the line it must never cross, so staff can flex without breaking character.
  8. Do and do not, channel by channel. Practical rules for Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, the counter, email and signage. Example phrases, banned phrases and real rewrites your team can copy on a busy Saturday without calling you.
  9. A guideline your staff will actually open. Format the guideline for the people who use it, not the agency that presents it. One-page versions, quick-reference cards and the onboarding brief that gets new hires on-brand in their first week.
  10. Who owns the brand when you are not in the room?. Governance: who approves, who corrects, how drift gets caught and when the guideline is reviewed. You walk out with an ownership structure that keeps the brand consistent without the founder checking every post.
