Business Model Design and Innovation

See how your business really makes money, then redesign it before the market forces you to.

Your product is fine. Your business model is the problem.

What this is

A great product inside a broken model still loses money. This professional course trains you to observe customers, map your model and its system, spot white space outside your core, test assumptions with simple numbers, and pitch a redesigned model people will approve. Every tool is shown through Malaysian cases, from a kopitiam chain to a logistics SME and a tuition centre going online.

What you will be able to do

Modules

  1. What a business model really is. Separate the product from the logic that turns it into money, and learn to see a whole model on one page. 3 lessons.
  2. Observation: seeing the patterns others walk past. Train your eye to spot what customers actually do, recognise repeating business model patterns, and borrow structures from other industries. 3 lessons.
  3. Thinking like a designer: synthesis and visual thinking. Turn messy observations into sharp insights, and use simple visuals so teams argue about the right things. 2 lessons.
  4. Mapping the model and designing the system. Map your model honestly, follow how value flows between actors, and check that the parts reinforce each other. 3 lessons.
  5. White space: growth outside the core. Tell the core from adjacencies and true white space, and recognise when a new opportunity needs a model of its own. 2 lessons.
  6. Testing assumptions with simple numbers. Find the assumption that could sink a new model, test it cheaply, and use napkin maths to decide before you spend. 2 lessons.
  7. Storytelling: connecting the model to an audience. Turn a business model into a story people remember, and use content, social media and technology to carry it and build networks. 2 lessons.
  8. Pitching and running the redesign. Pitch a redesigned model so decision-makers say yes, then build the habit of reviewing and redesigning your model on purpose. 2 lessons.
